@TheKittyLump Its called the dolphin kick. Its the fastest way to swin in the water since the kick starts in the ribs and not the legs.
This is how I learned to swim as a child--I taught myself this since I couldn't figure out the whole "you have two legs" thing. lols. :) Its why people started calling me a mermaid.

Whenever I go to the beach/in the pool I swim like a mermaid. No tail I made no nothing, I just naturally learned to keep my ankles and knees together and swim.
