@hurchel - Madoff was just a fall guy. They knew what he was doing for a long time and pulled it out during the crisis to deflect attention and public anger off the actual financial executives. Madoff didn't run any of the firms that were guilty of the massive fraud rampant throughout the financial system. He just managed money for some rich folks. Check out his recent comments from prison. He's unapologetic about it and calls the entire US eCONomy a massive Ponzi scheme.
