Video shows an extremely rare view of a wild coyote pack stalking large prey. It is very difficult to get coyotes and deer in the same video. This shows a coyote actively stalking and chasing whitetail deer.

Video begins with an earlier view of a coyote in the same location as the one to follow. This coyote was a part of a pack stalking deer.

The next portion of the video began when I glanced out a window at early dawn and thought I saw a pack of coyotes. It was dark and they were far away. I went for a camcorder, but when I returned all I could see were two deer. These deer seemed very nervous and kept looking toward a woods. Sevral times they began to run and then look toward the woods again. I could hear barking and howling sounds from the woods.

After watching them for a while, I noticed that a coyote was stalking them. The coyote attacked, killed, and ate a small animal in the grass. It also kept looking at the deer and also toward the woods. I thought that another coyote was there. The barking sounds did not pick up well in the video, but the deer obviously heard them.

Later the coyote approached the deer and they ran away so fast, I lost them with the camcorder. Then I went to search for them. On the way, I saw much wildlife, including a redtailed hawk, Shikepoke (American Bittern or Green Heron), a squirrell, and watched the sun rise. I found the doe. Instead of running away from me, she ran toward me. This was because the rest of the deer were in a nearby woods. The deer were very agitated and nervous because they were doing much snorting. Later saw a nice group of wild turkey and a hot air balloon.

Later, I saw the same deer (they stayed in the area). However there had previously been two fawns in the group and from then on I just saw one fawn. Possibly the coyote had attacked a fawn and maybe this was why the deer were so nervous around the coyote. Had a good view of leaping deer.

Later, at the same spot, I filmed a nice big buck with good antlers. He allowed me to approach quite closely.

**Coyotes can run at speeds up to 43 mph and can jump over 4 meters. It runs with its tail down. Some coyotes found in the east can weight over 100 lbs (see http://64.233.169.104/search?q=cache:WN3D-Pm0RMAJ:icwdm.org/wildlife/coyotes....). Comments and videos show these monster coyotes, e.g. see the discussion under, "Coyote attack," at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NT6sePYyeL0. (Some may be hybrids, such as of wolf and coyote.)

The coyote (Canis latrans) is also called the prairie wolf. It is a mammal belonging to the order carnivora and related to the domestic dog. They range from Panama through Canada. The name coyote came from Mexican Spanish. The Latin name means barking dog. Nineteen subspecies exist. Its fur is grayish-brown to yellowish-brown and can be black or white. It has a long bushy tail. The coyote is very vocal with a number of sounds including barks, yips, whines, growls, and howls.

Coyotes rarely attack humans (but the frequency is much less than attacks by domestic dogs) and the coyotes are often provoked. A published paper on the subject given on a government site can be found at: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/awm/docs/coyoteattacks.pdf

I had filmed a coyote pack approaching and possibly attacking whitetail deer in this location previously, COYOTE ATTACK DEER RARE VIEW WEIRD DEER BOLTS, FLEES at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhtlNCNJTCY, but the recording didnt turn out too well, because I was unable to see the animals when I made the video.

  • @ydnarnosfatsug unchecked aggression much?

  • YOU MENTION IN YOUR VIDEO THAT THE DEER WERE DOING A LOT OF SNORTING. COULD IT HAVE BEEN COCAINE? OR DO YOU THINK IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE? LIKE MAYBE ( GOD FORBID ) THEIR OWN BOOGERS!

  • enough with the subtitles

  • @oona666a what a stupid comment. The woman's out on her property doing what she does, why the fuck would she bring a fucking tripod? Do you expect her to have a clapperboard and lights too?

  • coyotes just killed a large pony of mine..

  • I'm not against hunting by any means. But I find it extremely irritating to hear people say we NEED to hunt deer, otherwise they would over-populate, without mentioning the fact that we killed off all of their natural predators.

  • SOOO SICK of the hunting/anti hunting bullshit on youtube. I hunt. I eat. Its my Right as a human and when there is nothing more to hunt and the stores are all empty cuz of looting and the fall of civilization, guess whats on the menu you dependant pussy bunny loving hippy losers. I like my hippys with hot sauce and onions to cover up the taste of grime and liberal tree hugging fairytale "We Are The World" Ideaology. It will be an easy hunt to say the least. Coffee shops and bicycle trails! YUM.

  • @puffnbrew2 okay the need for hunting is increasing unless you want deer in your backyard and coyotes going through your garbage cans with racoons oppossum and disease ridden rodents living amongst your family and pets hunting is part of nature and those of us who enjoy responsibly and humanely are causing no trouble in fact we're helping keep the animal population to a number that keeps the animals well fed and plenty of room to roam with food on the table.

  • @uchihasrox if you dont hunt deer they will become over populated and can cause more car crashes and run into neighbor hoods
