Bengal and Beyond performing Natokee (Bishu Chatterjee) at Bird and Beckett Books and Records, San Francisco on December 27, 2009
The translation of the bengali song vaguely goes like this: Standing in Sevilla I mix up between Carmen and you the performer. Your singing/acting/dancing Carmen life takes me to the cigar warehouse where your passion finds Don Jose and later to the arena where your reckless flirt takes you to toreador Escamillo. Alas jealousy and betrayal spark Don Jose to murder you. You bring me to the Guadalquivir river where love vanishes and we part.
Sharmila Guha (voice)
Motoshi Kosako (harp)
Bishu Chatterjee (bass)
Ralph Granich (drums)
Mamuka Berika (video)
Laura J. Lukitsch (editor)
The composition is absolutely fabulous as are the musicians, and Bishuda rocks. However the vocalist should try and stick to singing in any language other than Bengali. Her accent has killed the song..sorry! Best regards Neelav
