"SURVIVAL IN THE SKY" (PART 1)

Part 1 of 4.

This four-part series contains the complete cable-TV aviation documentary program entitled "Survival In The Sky", narrated by Will Lyman (with his usual perfection).

Many commercial aircraft accidents are discussed and dissected in this 4-part documentary, which first aired on The Learning Channel in 1996.

Total running time for all four parts is 3 hours, 12 minutes.

Here is a partial list of some of the aviation accidents that are probed in this program:

Air Florida "Palm 90" crashes into the Potomac during a snowstorm in Washington, D.C., in 1982.

A Delta L-1011 falls short of the runway in Dallas during a severe thunderstorm in 1985.

Two Boeing 737s go down without any apparent cause in 1991 and again 1994.

The 1977 Tenerife disaster, which had two Boeing 747s colliding on a foggy runway. 583 people died.

A Boeing 737 loses its roof over Hawaii in 1988.

A portion of the tail of a Japan Air Lines Boeing 747 drops off the plane in mid-air in 1985. 520 are killed.

A United Airlines DC-10 loses all of its hydraulics systems over Iowa in 1989.
