You were an idol to me. Greater than Tiger, who is fabricated and designed to golf, and is somehow too perfect to be true. You were it. Not an animal, not a product of extraordinary genetics and precision training. A caddy with a 3-iron, like most of us are in a dog-eat-dog world. That said, I guess the most you can expect from a lifetime is to share a moment with the World. You did. And because of it, we will miss you forever

Funny how the memory cheats. I remembered that putt as a 20 footer when in reality it was about 8 feet. Still my all-time favourite golf moment though.

@senorchipotle I never meant to put down tiger. Actually, I think his career and achievements are too significant to be put down. I was just expressing a personal opinion about Seve, one of my childhood idols, and I did so by establishing a comparison with a modern day idol. I don't know what class is, but I suppose it doesn't take passive-aggressiveness out to dinner. Cheers

If there was ever an illustration of why we loved Seve this is it, did you ever such joy and passion on a golf course?!!! There aren't that many true legends of sport left, and the world just got a little duller/greyer by Seve's passing. You can't even say "they don't make them like this any more", because players like Seve don't come in pairs, they're one off''s to be enjoyed and treasured while they last. One of my true hero's (not a word I use lightly) is gone, but will never be forgotten.
