An Ohio State highway Patrol cruiser operated by Trooper Andrew Baldridge was going at least 116 mph when the vehicle crashed Feb. 4 responding to a mutual assist call in Wyandot County.

The 25-year-old rookie state trooper was killed in the crash. His partner, Trooper Mark McLaughlin, 33, was injured.

The accident took place on Township Highway 95 near Township Highway 27 / Brown Road southwest of the Village of Carey.

The cruiser was traveling southbound on Township Highway 95 and had just past State Route 103. It hit an embankment and went off the right side of the road, said Lt. Stephanie Norman, OHP Bucyrus Post Commander.

The cruiser was operating without lights or sirens. It rolled several times and both were trapped.
