This California peak, Mt. Baden-Powell, is so named for the gentleman who established the Scout movement in 1907. Formally known as "North Baldy Mountain (East Twin)" the Boy Scouts of America requested and received the name change, in 1931, in his honor. The scouts would go out on a 5-day hike/camp and it ended here at the peak. The trail is maintained by local Boy Scouts as well.
