This video shows the HITCH-EZY 5 tonne coupling being coupled to a vehicle and then uncoupled. It demonstrates its exceptional ease of use. The HITCH-EZY coupling has a 5 tonne rating, unlimited range of articulation, automatic double locking and o-ring seals to keep out dust and water. It has been static and dynamic tested to Australian Design Rule 62/02, and comes with the tow pillar and cover included. More information at www.hitch-ezy.com.

  • Trackmaster information continued " It is extremely easy to attach the van to the tow vehicle ( especially with the aid of a reversing camera on the car) and not withstanding that the majority of the tracks were dusty and stony, the Hitch Ezy never failed to release immediately when detaching the caravan.

The management at Trakmaster will now offer the Hitch Ezy as an optional coupling, and already, several Trakmaster clients have specified the Hitch Ezy as their preferred coupling."

  • Information just received from Trackmaster caravans "We have recently completed a trip from Spencer's Gulf SA to the Gulf of Carpentaria and return to Melbourne via Flinders Ranges, Innamincka, Birdsville, Diamantina NP, Richmond and Karumba mostly on dirt roads. The convoy of six caravans was led by the management of Trakmaster Off Road Caravans. One of the Trakmaster Off Road vans was fitted with the Hitch Ezy coupling, and its performance was found to be faultless in everyway.

  • The back-into technique depicted in the video is only one coupling technique. Aligning the sleeve over the top of the tow-pillar and then lowering as with a conventional ball coupling works just fine. Self centering occurs whenever the down forces on the sleeve are applied in a line that falls inside the diameter of the head of the tow-pillar. The downward forces are applied at the yoke pivot bolts and this axis passes through the centreline of the sleeve. The tow pillar diameter is 55mm.

  • The video shows the vehicle and trailer in a straight line. The backing on process works equally well when the vehicle approaches from any other angle. In that case the sleeve is pointed towards the incoming tow-pillar head by a combination of tilting it within its yoke and rotating the yoke around the axis of its longitudinal shaft. Engagement then involves rotation of the sleeve around the yoke pivot bolts and simultaneous rotation of the yoke's shaft within the urethane bushes.

  • A good old pintle hitch... whatever...

  • or just learn to back up right the first time

  • The hitch-ezy is simply brilliant!

We put it through its paces on a 2 month trip from Perth to Alice Spring (Toyota Prado towing a 1.3 ton Coromel Pioneer Silhouette) and found it extremely easy to use and completely reliable. It removed so much stress and time from the hitching and un-hitching process.

Its a marriage saver, and highly recommended to all.
