  • @alicepotter777 Its from the Russian poem February by Boris Pasternak. It can be translated as:

February, take out the inks and weep,

Write about February on my moans,

    But right now, thundering sleet,

In the black Spring it burns...

But it sounds better in Russian :)

  • what a great job you have done!!! thank you for that ! especially for the russian part, you ve done it with 99% grammar and accuracy :)

  • Easily my favorite song by the lovely Regina Spektor :)

  • Best song ever

  • EPIC SONG!

  • that was awesome

  • @amberbydreams1 yeah ive been trying a whole load of sights with the translation of this poem and everyone has a slightly different translation. thanks for the help anyway

  • @mullymyster To explain why there are different translations, from what I know (though I'm no expert) Russian grammatical structure is vastly different from English. Therefore, especially with poetry, it's extremely hard to translate. The poem's name is Black Spring if you want to look into it more.

  • @mullymyster They are pretty close to each other, but I believe ike01012's translation is closer.

  • @saudiwomensupporter @ike01012 we have two people saying seperate things so can someone please clarify. I dont speak russian but not knowing this annoys me

Black spring! Pick up your pen, and weeping,

Of February, in sobs and ink,

Write poems, while the slush in thunder

Is burning in the black of spring.
