Mis 2 tórtolas turcas se han convertido en 6! El árbol-comedero dificilmente tiene espacio para todas. Por favor, nome preguntéis quién es un adulto y quién una cría! :))

My two collared doves are 6 now! The tree-feeder has become very small for all of them. Please, do not ask me which one is a mature or which is a juvenile :))

  • Yes! my secret alterego identity is out now. To answer your question about juncos. I haven't seen juncos for a few months now, but I used to have about 1/2 dozen come to my feeder everyday back in the winter. They were nice to see hanging around.

  • Flocks of migrative birds are always welcome here, too. In the south, we have the little extraordinary Merops Apiaster flocks that come from Africa to nest in our country. It is breathtaking sight! Cattle egrets are also very beautiful....are they those ones with red long hair ;)?

  • Our record in this country with invaders is so unfortunate! In the 19th Century, perfectly fine birds like the English sparrow were brought here by groups here who actually founded societies to transplant invaders.

I like the cattle egret, though. They did not "invade" us through human interference, but instead flew from Africa to South America, and then made their way up north to Texas from there. They are a more admirable kind of invader---self-motivated!
