Here in the Sacramento Valley planes drop rice seeds into flooded paddies and presto, the rice begins to grow. If only Asian countries could be so lucky. It's actually rice seedlings that are being transplanted, and it's hard work. But the Lao, if they can work in a large group, make the hard work bearable with bantering back and forth, singing and always being positive. I like the sound of the girl's voice next to me as I shoot the video.

  • These are Hmong people

  • What are you thinking???? These people are Lao and my wife's relatives. I don't understand why you make comments like this. And the same goes for the Principal. He is as Lao as Lao can be. Sorry.

  • So do I, and I'm not Lao! My wife's Lao and is in this video. We'll be going back Nov. 19 - Jan. 9 and I'll have more video/blogs to post on That Luang Festival and the Tai Daeng up in Huaphan Province, weaving, etc.

  • I wish I grew up in Laos, that way I could really know how much hard work my grandparents, mom, and the rest of my family dealt with. I have it tooo easy here in the US.

  • Why do people replant rice? This I don't understand --- Why not just let it grows instead of pulled it off the ground and replanted it?

  • Hard working people, that would put me in the grave.

  • Hi @bullesilence. I am Lao, and The Lao people are not serious about using their pictures if in the friendly way. So, I think possible, but you need to ask permission from @Peterlaos who uploads it. Thanks
