The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) is actively recruiting experienced officers to serve in Afghanistan. These are non-career Foreign Service Limited Appointments, for up to five years, requiring:

- Eight years of relevant experience, four of which must be overseas
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- U.S. citizenship
