    That's true but its highly unlikely he did, especially considering he mocked his own death the exact same way in pictures just years before he actually did it. Different gun, it was a rifle, but still.

    That's why the term is called "tortured genius". The tortured part is because he knows his obligation to share his god given legendary talent. The torture comes from the decision between personal happiness and human nature (selfishness) and the ability to instead share happiness with the whole world of listeners of this music. Touch one life, or millions of them. What would you do?

    I was 15 when Kurt Cobain killed himself. Believe me when I say that they were PLENTY famous when he died. More likely he "couldn't cope with the attention of being a mega sensation" than "he didn't know that his music would get so famous." You should look back at some of the Rolling Stone Magazines from that period. Six months before the memorial issue, Nirvana was ironicly on the cover with the Headline "Why Success Doesn't Suck".
