As a matter of fact, it would not surprise me if one day you are called into the ministry. There have been many great Christian leaders start out like you, only to be changed. The Apostle Paul for one. I am going to pray specifically for you. WARNING: Sometimes the Lord brings you to your knees!!!

Thanks for the correction - a list of Statesmen personnel is available on Wikapedia. "Big Chief" had an enormous impact on making the Statesmen who they were, appears on at least 53 LP albums (including compilations and tributes) and many other 78 rpm's. What I meant by "original" is that there wouldn't have been a Statesmen as we have known and loved them, had there not been the long tenure of the "Big Chief." He was an American original on the gospel music scene, "wood-shedding and all!"

Hovie is the only original here. Others orginals were Bobby Strickland (tenor), Mosie Lister (lead...no relation to Hovie), Bervin Kendrick (baritone), and Gordon Hill (bass).
Doy Ott and Jim "Big Chief" Wetherington both had long tenures. Ott first filled in at piano for Hovie in 1950 and then was the baritone from 1951-1978. Wetherington sang bass from 1949-1973.
The other two:
Jim Hill - 1968-1971.
Sherill Neilsen (sometimes billed as Shaun) - 1968-1973 and again for a short period in 1975.

This is the Statesmen personnel as they were when I first saw them in the early '70s. Many changes, here, Hovie, of course, the Big Chief, and Doy were originals. This is a fun number, sound pretty much like the recorded version from the Skyline "Thanks To Calvary" album.

the Gaither Homecoming Concerts but he is

Wow--I've seen Jim Hill on Gaither videos forever but didn't know he was a Statesmen. Is this the same guy that wrote "What a Day That Will Be"?
