14 members of the Maasai community arrested in Mau-Narok over a land dispute between the government and the community have been released on bond. The men were arraigned before a court Monday morning and charged with holding an illegal gathering but as NTV's Robert Nagila reports, their lawyers say they will challenge the case on the grounds that under the new constitution there is no such charge as an 'illegal gathering'.

  • I totally agree that the government is responsible for the fighting and the continuing tribal hatred. I also agree that the government should have made sure that the local Maasai's had a say in the way this land is to be used. That is the right way to do things. It is also very unfaire to relocate the IDPs to land with dispute all over again. But our government does not care about the poor people.

    Arrogancy yao ndiyo imewaletea hii shida yote. Now look how they ended up na hiyo ujujaji na ujinga yao. Wakikuyu Wanafikiria Ntimama ni mtu wa Kuchezewa eh? Ntimama is the defender of the 6 Millions Maasai Of Kenya and TZ. Now they should kick out that Waria Rift Valley PC Osman Warfa, becoz he lost the war. He is a useless asshole. Na Murugi Wapende wasipende crap too ended up in the drain. ESTHER MURUGI NTIMAMA SI MTU WAKUCHEZEWA. MURUGI WEWE SI MALAIKA BUT SHETANI MKUBWA.

  • @mrefu26 Exactly, but these guys take their time and even need whipping before seeing sense. At last the country is finding its feet. We hope they will reposition equity back to the hub and avoid making irrational moves full of innuendos. They should also remember that not every Kenyan lives on the other side of the river.

  • @chikombe1

    Peace of all of us as Kenyans. This issue could have been solved with dialogue rather than the GOVT with guns on one side and Maasai on the other side with spears, clubs and swords plus threats.

    AMANI KWA NCHI YETU YA KENYA.

  • @chikombe1

    Walijaribu kutumia kifua na pia sisi tukawambia, if we gave you a hard time tukiwa only 5000 people before mzungu akuje Kenya kuwaokoa, how about tukiwa na a total of 6m from both KE and TZ. Pia sisi tulitumia kifua yetu na kutisha hawo mapolisi wao. This is a lesson that Kenya needs serious land reforms.

    MAASAILAND=OUR LAND,OUR SOVEREIGHTY.

    Peace to every Kenyan. lets all learn and live in harmony.

  • @chikombe1

    I hope this will be a lesson to any future GOVT that tries to acquire Land dubiously. If the Govt didnt succeed in stealing Maasailand in the 1960s, they will never ever again come and push us around. you cant possibly push around some 2.5M Maasai of Kenya and get away with it. This regime thinks they are dealing na wale Wamaasai wa zamani. As Ntimama once said, SASA TUMEGUTUKA. WAKITUTUSI TUTAWATUSI. WAKITUDHARAU HATA SISI PIA TUTAWADHARAU. Tit for Tat.

  • @chikombe1

    Thankx bro. They are not turning us as refugess coz we still have land but what the Maasai were against is the fact that the Kikuyu regime was trying to use force on our people. Thats surely unacceptable. If we gave in my brother, what could have stopped this regime to have come down to the Coast and federalize Coastland and put it into some Central Land Board and then headed by a Kikuyu man? Wanafikiria Maasai wako 5000 PPl as they were in 1904 when Mzungu killed many of them.

  • @mrefu26 they had to retreat, Kenyans are enlightened ever than before, we are not going to be taken for a ride by the blabbermouths and their ardent followers. It is time the pretenders allowed the IDPs back to the land where they uprooted them. There is no room for lip service. We are not interested in making fresh horror movies. The Maasai deserves to be left in peace not in pieces!

  • @Gaikundo1 To those who lost loved ones in Naivasha and to those who were forcefully and inhumanely moved from their homes we can only hope for justice. It is sad to murder and maim, it is equally sad to make people refugees in their own country. I hope they are not on the verge of turning maasai into refugees in their own land.

    Peace to our Motherland.
