Can you give some examples? I don't have Maisky's recording, and am not a cellist - I've held a soft spot for Yo-Yo Ma's ("The cello suites To-To Ma inspired by bach, from the six part film series") as one of the best recordings I've heard in my whole life, so I'm a bit biased towards Ma. Not questioning Maisky's brilliance. The guy is clearly amazing. Has some very very nice things of his own and from Rostropovich! Just curious about what parts lead you to this conclusion.

Doing my Dance AS mock to this.. I love it! It gets stuck in your head. :')

Im possibly playing this piece and debussy's rêverie for all state band auditions on flute. I just got the score today and its already fun.its awkward though as well because i dont have the privillage of having two tones so playing what would be each string is a tad hard where he drops to his low key. I love it though. This man by far is my favorite cello player. Im pretty sure he is the reason i want to buy one and learn how to play.

Mischa Maisky at age 40 >>>>>>>>> Mischa Maisky at age right now

I find this and Suite 3 Prelude quite overlooked and both are my favorite.

omg! is amazing i love it!

@musicloverz71 why not its really easy to play

In my opinion, Yo Yo Ma doesnt release as much emotion as Mischa Maisky. Maisky's playing gets under your skin.
