My 4 1/2 yr old son and 2 yr old daughter sleeping in the van. They are very comfy in their carseats. My 4 1/2 yr old loves his seat still. And my 2 yr old still doesn't mind being rear facing. She cries unless in this position.

  • I think it is so wonderful that you care about the safety of your children! I believe that extended harnessing after a certain weight limit is less safe as a booster because of the increased neck loads. The Swedish don't even use FF harnessed seats because they believe that the neck loads are increased because the body is held back by the harness, but the neck moves forward. This is NOT an excuse though to put a 3 year old in a booster or a child who cannot sit still. Just some thought.

  • @boneheaders Yes i wish we could use those seats in the us. i still harness him ff b/c i would rather risk a neck injury than the adult seat belt crushing him or unlatching on impact. I have seen it time and time again a child in a booster and the adult belt basicly cutting 6,7,8 yr olds in half. I feel he is much safer in a harness than a booster. race car drivers dont use boosters they use 5pt harnesses b/c they are safer.

  • @boneheaders i also dont think enuff research has been done to conclude which is safer. Also its case by case. when i fit a child for a seat alot goes into consideration. Age, wieght, height, vehicle type, willingness of the parents to use the seat corectly. Even a 800 $ can kill a child if not used right. thanks for the comment! Im allways happy to talk about carseat stuff! Its a never ending journey to keep kids safe.

  • What seat is the 4 year old in?

  • @pingbns He was in a Safety First 3 in 1 one convertable carseat that seats weight limit is 50lbs. He is now in a Britax Frountier 85.

  • @ozark5150 my nephew has the same seat just different colors!! :) We love it!
