I looked it up for you. Since 1961 it´s totally forbidden to use ´draught´ dogs. Only exceptions are malamute, eskimodog, greenland dog, husky and samojeed. Mixed breeds aren´t allowed! Also you need a special permit. And no, it´s not only commercial use of dog carts, it´s ALL dog carts. If he doesn´t believe it let him search for ´trekhondenwet´ (draught dog law) It´s all in there.

Being a native Dutch'man' I can tell you that's not true. Using ANY dog other than a husky or malamute isn't allowed to be used for pulling and you need a permit for it. You could use the cart you use but then only with those dogs AND a permit. Using ANY other dog will get you a ticket for sure.

Just so. And my latest advice (received today) from a native Dutchman is that it is only the commercial use of dog carts that is banned in that country. There is no law or regulation against the recreational use of dog sulkies - which makes a lot more sense than the views of our previous correspondent from that country.

I'm all for dogs getting the exercise they need, safely. You CANNOT FORCE a dog to pull. And if you like to bicker and profess your opinions, just go on the internet, LOL! I dog scooter, but have been off it for 2.5 mths due to an injury (mine). In the meantime my dog is going nuts for lack of exercise, apart from trotting daily on a treadmill. It seems that everyone has an opinion about everything, when online anonymously! I have better things to do with my time & intelligence than bicker here.
