Marty at his emotional best singing with great sincerity this moving song. I don't know who recorded the song previously, so maybe someone out there can give some information about it's origin.
*I'm reliably informed by Herman from the Netherlands that this is an old Jimmie Davis song that dates from 1942.
Thanks for that Herman.

  • I believe there was a Japanese Country singer in the 60's called Eddie Fukano who appeared in Marty's movie 'From Nashville With Music.'

Unfortunately, his appearance was cut out of the movie for some reason.

  • I had an old rather scuffed 45 record of Eddy Arnold singing this song some years back that I have searched for to replace after loosing it and my whole life after a ravaging house fire that robbed me of everything I treasured so in this world. I know they were just 'things', but I miss the the life I had before that terrible day...

  • Lovely song, great singer.

  • @buddyzroadie / Buddy I just posted the words and chords on my channel. You can find them under my post of the song. You may want to correct the words according to the version that Marty sang, If you want to transpose to the key of G

C=G,C7=G7, F=C, G7=D7. Please let me know if this works out for you. It's kind of an experiment on my part

  • @cariboubill Hey Bill- That would be wonderful! I haven't been able to find it so far.... That old saying "I don't understand all I know about computers" is so true for me! Ha ha!

I really appreciate your time and trouble.

    Thanks again

  • @buddyzroadie / Hey, Buddy, did you ever find the chords and lyrics to this song? I have the song posted on my channel. I was singing from memory, so some of the words are different from Marty's. Give it a listen. If you still want the words, I could try to post them and try to put in the chords, too.

  • Wonderful song tarquin45! Thank you so much for the post!

Does anyone have any idea where I could find the chords for this song? I can't even find the lyrics..... Pout, pout... :-)

    Thanks again

  • One of the Best of his time. He had a style all his own. All the Best had a style of their own. Even though I was little whipper snapper at the time, his music caught my ear. I grew up remembering that voice and how it just carried me away. RIP Marty.

  • I also JUST joined so I could add my thanks! I LOVE Marty's voice-- was raised on it and have always said he is the greatest singer of all time. My kids have had to endure my tapes, now MP3 files... I do miss vinyl though ;o)

I can't thank you enough for posting so much of his music-- I have always looked for his CDs in stores but they are hard to find.

He has the best male voice I have ever heard -- he will ALWAYS be my favorite.
