I am a cub scout den leader and this will be my third year leading. This year is special as my son Alex will earn his Arrow of Light. In this video Mark Craven, parent and past Cubmaster, shows the Webelos how to fuse and whip the ends of a rope. This is one of the requirements of the Outdorsman Badge which we are just about to complete.

I plan to do more cub scout videos as the Arrow of Light ceremony approaches at the end of the year.

  • Thanks for this video!!! I am a new Webelo's mom and the animated video on this skill on a scout-related site was totally confusing! Now I completely get it!!! Great video!

  • @busylady382 I appreciate you watching. Alex has crossed over to boy scouts now and gets to start a new journey :)

  • It's wonderfull to see our future leaders practicing skills that they will pass on to future generations. Alex is learning good skills. Great vid thanks Tony.

  • @EDINBURGSTAR He will earn his Arrow of Light this winter and that will be cool!

  • my parents never let me get into the boyscouts when i was a youngern :(

  • @leoffensive lol, I went through a similar version of cub scouts through my church but it was obviously geared more toward religion. Even though the boy scouts were originally more geared toward religion they have become more secular over the years. This is just an observation and not a criticism.

  • i remember when i was a boyscout suddenly i know how much i love the outdoors. i took the job i have now because of how little i remembered from back then, yet all the things i have learned are because of my experience in the scouts. the one thing i would have done different is learned these things outdoors. i had no fun doing these things in a classroom it would have been so much more fun to be outside with a fire going. boyscouts don't want to learn indoors, what boy does?
