Early this year, the National Archives released documents from the files of the 9/11 Commission, which were previously classified. Three of those documents, recently obtained by EIR, provide the ``smoking gun,'' proving the central role of Saudi intelligence, and the critical support role of British intelligence in the preparation, execution, and coverup of 9/11. The most significant of the documents, still partly classified, is a ``Memorandum for the Record,'' summarizing an April 23, 2004 interview with a Southern California-based FBI informant, who rented a room in his home to two of the 9/11 hijackers during 2000. Although the memorandum redacted the informant's name, other public sources have identified the man as Abdussattar Shaikh. His FBI handler has also been publicly named as Steven Butler.

Bombs brought the building down the plans were misdirection. The film of the first strike clearly indicates the plan was not large enough to be a passenger jet.

@myeemoo but when fewer than 10 major corporations own over 90 percent of all media outlets in the nation, the kind of reporter you describe is going to be relegated to places like Andrews, TX or smaller. Honestly --not enough to make a difference. Everyone else is trying to land a big paying job with a big outlet owned by a big or huge corporation with outlets in big, major markets --like New York, Chicago, L.A., Houston, Atlanta, Dallas, etc.

@ScotlandMaleGlasgow There was a time when reporters were really reporters; they developed sources and checked them out. The Watergate scandal broke as a result of this kind of investigation. No more, it seems. The concentration of media into very few and corporate hands is to blame. 'Reporters' are just show biz, packaging, a slick repetition of the official spin.
