  • A few thoughts: It seems unnatural to constantly have to scroll up and down to read your full-page pdf... is it easier to read it vertically?

Secondly, is their an annotation option for your pdfs?

I would like to get a digital reader, but mainly for reading textbooks! Thanks

  • @i8ny3x yes, it's easier to read in portrait mode, but landscape is better to make a movie :) I don't think that the integrated PDF reader can take annotations (you can't save edits in the PDF), but maybe another app would. I use the kindle app for books - I believe that it has notes.

  • The first app (pdf reader), is it the build in reader or do I have to buy a 3rd party reader?

  • @HiDefKing PDF is natively supported in the iPad. No extra reader needed. I just emailed the PDF to myself and opened the attachedment

  • I wonder for how long you'll keep reading a book if you have to switch lines after every 8 words @1:08

  • @steveparxcar What do you mean?

  • I have a directory with about 4,000 PDF files that I wish to transfer to my iPad. Obviously, emailing them to myself is not the way to proceed. What do you suggest?

  • Lets see it do video and multimedia in a pdf. Yes, it exists. What about links to pages and table of contents? Search function? Also how do I install a third party pdf reader without itunes or the apple store?

  • @tantzer Would using Dropbox on both your computer and iPad work? That way you could just have a folder of PDF's that will be sync'd, if iPads natively support .pdf's it should be able to just open it right up.

  • Thank you. I am thinking about replacing my physical books with an iPad. My macbook is great for reading pdfs, but I am not sure I want to use it as a primary school device. I tried using an Inspiron Duo for this purpose, but pdfs on windows have never worked very well.

  • @tantzer You wont be reading 4000 PDF in a one day

  • gloss?

  • It's beautiful to read on iPad 2. The speed of rendering is amazing.
