You make a good point. I like Apple products and I use Macs, but personally I too wouldn't line up for an Apple Store or even line up to get one of the first "whatever Apple product" there is. It's senseless to me. On the other hand, I can somewhat understand other people's sentiments about it. Of course part of it is consumerism...
I bet. I haven't been to the Pacific Centre mall one but from the looks of it on various videos, it looks rather small :-( I've been to the one in San Francisco near Union Square. That one was nice and big--two stories. I've also been to one in Shibuya (Tokyo Japan). That one was three stories tall. A more "regular one" was in in Palo Alto, California (near SF) and that looked bigger than the Pacific Centre one. Why so small for Vancouver, a major city? :(
This is the first Apple store west of Quebec. So.... all we've had until now, is Apple resellers. Trust me, it's VERY different, and it's a big deal for long-time Apple users who have been wanting a real Apple store for the past 10-15 years, or however long. :P
You would think that all of these people had never seen Apple products for sale before. I love the look of a actual Apple store - they are very clean and well thought out but you certainly wouldn't see me lining up around the block to get into one.
What? it's the first Apple store in western Canada? How can that be? Ok that maybe explains the line-up partly...but there were obviously Apple boutiques before so..I still don't see why these people choose to worship consumer gods like this.
Why are these idiots wasting their time waiting in line to go in a store? This is consumerism at its dumbest. Hey, I like Apple and I have a powerbook and an ipod, but why would I line up to go into a new Apple store?? We all know what Apple's latest products are anyway, it's not like you'll see something you've never seen in the store. People need to get real interests instead of worshiping consumer gods - it's pathetic.
