July 25th, 2011 - The G20 Redux Rally, commemorating the one year anniversary of the G20 Summit in Toronto and the massive, police state tactics used against peaceful protestors. Speakers included Syd Ryan (President, Ontario Federation of Labour), John Pruyn (jailed after police took his prosthetic leg and walking sticks), and Brigette DePape (former Senate page who held up the "STOP HARPER" sign during the throne speech).
As the rally in Queen's Park was wrapping up and people were preparing for the march, three cool dudes started up freestyling to get everyone fired up. "G8, G20. THEY - FEW, WE - MANY!"
The rally and march were both peaceful, and I saw no violence at all from either the marchers or police. Police presence was restricted to a few bicycle cops and 2-3 officers on horseback at Queen's Park. During the march towards Queen/Spadina and Police Headquarters there were a lot more cops on bikes and a police cruiser escorting us. No arrests - Yay!
