Even in his curtain call Salminen exudes a commanding presence. Great artist.

even under the veil you can see Brunnhilde's humiliation--marvelous acting as always from Ms. Behren's.

@Anselm513 agreed--only callas was her acting equal as you astutely mentioned. we don't go to opera just to hear but also to see. Behrens was the Brando of the opera world. always present with her character--intense, vivid characterizations. marvelous scene--they are all aginst Siegffried--poor guy doesn't have a chance.

Великая вещь!

Behrens is a curious voice. Register break you could drive a truck through - she should be a yodeller in the Swiss Alps! And a harsh, "yelling" quality that is vocally quite ugly. And yet - what character! She acts vocally, which is what I don't get from someone who just sings the part, no matter how intensely. Reminds me of what someone else with an ugly, uneven, sublime voice - Maria Callas - said about Renata Tebaldi: "What a beautiful voice - but who cares?"

salminen is astouding. so is behrens. thanks so much for posting.

Quel fin d'acte absolument terrible... Magnifique. Seul Wagner fait ça.
@Waldvogel91 It is Behrens who is ASTONISHING in this act. Fabulous as teh video is, in the house, the immensity of the voice and the interpretation was simply breathtaking. The greatest Brunnhilde handsdown!!!!!

I think Salminen was the best performer of the whole cycle.
