You sound like a foreigner

I think what he means by not worrying about accents is to not be disencouraged when someone tells you "your accent isn't very good", because maybe you are learning a language which there aren't too many native speakers around, and all you know comes from books and audio clips.

when you're able to speak the language fluently, you speak it with an accent (foreign accent, or what be it). At that point it seems like it would be harder to shift accents, and that that would take more conscious effort. A shift in accent constitutes, among other things, a shift in pronunciation after all.

For Moses, his goal is to get to intermediate level with whatever accent comes naturally.
But for most people, not looking to learn languages for the sake of learning languages, this would not be advisable.
It all depends on your goals.

i always do enjoy your videos man and to be honest I agree with what you say. While I was recovering from surgery...I was studying languages in order to keep the depression off of my mind. While I studied the language I was mainly focusing on the phrases and how to say them. Later on that is when I went out of my way to listen to the accent of the culture in order for it to sound smooth. Those are my thoughts on the matter. Great stuff as always!

I don't get is why native English speakers have to learn English grammar when they can't even spell. I always have to help people with spelling.

awsome video! i have to agree with just about every point you made

@Devilshful This is only considering that the learner takes their English grammar with them. The way to eliminate intensive grammar study at the start is to delve into the language as ignorant as possible, but grammar study in the long run is inevitable, yet less strenuous if you don't start at the beginning.

you are not the only one who follow Bruce's Philosophies.

I totally agree!
Just look at Arnold Schwarzenegger... he does have an accent, but he did English movies and even became governor of California. Pronuncing good enough to be understood is a honoroable goal, along with the rest; but yeah, trying to sound 100% native at any price might be a very overrated time- and money-consuming goal.
