WHOAAAAAA CAN'T BELIEVE IT...I USED TO LIVE IN GRAND ISLAND NEBRASKA AS A CHILD AROUND 73-74 AND VAGUELY REMEMBER WATCHING WRESTLING MATCHES ON LOCAL CH 11 OR 10, NOT SURE WHICH,,,BUT I REMEMBER THIS GUY ON THERE,,,CAN ANYONE HELP ME WHAT PROMOTION COVERED THAT AREA AT THE TIME?

I was trained by Johnny Powers and I made my debut in february 1975 at the Akron national guard armory,what a night it was. I later wrestled as the heatwave,he taught me well!

I watched Johnny P. for years. Don't let him fool ya. He can wrestle and was the good guy in Cleveland. His main opponents were Dick the bull dog and a German that I can only remember as Von Smit.

Powers did have a big following in Cleveland up till he slid out of town under darkness because he went bankrupt.

Johnny was a big man. Never realized how big untill I saw him live downtown Cleveland for some matches in the 70's. Intelligent and "cute", he had a huge following in the Cleveland area. The "Powerlock" was copied by many great wrestlers over the years. Thanks for posting, the memories are great.
