Focus on Coder Productivity for ICD-10 Readiness

I think 360 Encompass will leverage us to a successful ICD-10 readiness. First, it will provide us with that coder productivity of 30 percent. We just completed our budget preparation for ICD-10. Contained within the budget is both an aggressive and a conservative approach. The conservative approach does not take into account all the productivity; the aggressive approach does. So, we have a 30 percent coder productivity, which offsets that 50 percent decline in productivity, to leave us with a 20 percent. So I think it will be key. It's also going to allow the clinical documentation improvement program to utilize computer assisted coding to get to that level of specificity, to automate, and to better help them educate the positions and improve the overall documentation completeness.
