This is a gramophone recording from the turn of the last century. (I forget which year it was made. If I find out, I'll edit it in later.) The song, though hard to understand, is "Hello Ma Baby", which has found a niche in modern day popular culture by means of the Warner Brothers' character Michigan J. Frog, who sang the chorus of the song. This is an act which was parodied by an alien creature in the movie 'Spaceballs' as well. So, I just thought that I'd share it, even if it is a little hard to understand. It's something that I felt was worth preserving.

  • Soo sweet n_n

  • who was the artist who sang this version?

  • lol. that's what the dancing frog sings in the warner brother's cartoon "one Froggy Evening"

  • I'm not positive, but the first person who recorded this song was Arthur Collins, so this could be him.

It kind of sounds like him, but I can't tell for sure because the quality isn't the best.

  • You rock, man. It's damn near impossible to find this song. Do you know who sings this version?

  • VERSE 2:

This morning through the phone she said her name was Bess,

And now I kind of know where I am at.

I'm satisfied because I've got my babe's address

Here pasted in the lining of my hat.

I am mighty scared, 'cause if the wires get crossed,

'Twill separate me from ma baby mine,

Then some other man will win her, and my game is lost,

And so each day I shout along the line,

Thanks so much for posting this audio!!

  • CHORUS:

Hello! ma baby, Hello! Ma honey, Hello! ma ragtime gal.

Send me a kiss by wire, baby my heart's on fire!

    If you refuse me, Honey, you'll lose me, then you'll be left alone;

Oh baby, telephone and tell me I'm your own.

    Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello there.

  • I've got a little baby, but she's out of sight,

I talk to her across the telephone.

I've never seen my honey but she's mine all right,

So take my tip and leave this gal alone.

Every single morning you will hear me yell,

"Hey Central! Fix me up along the line."

He connects me with ma honey, then I rings the bell,

And this is what I say to baby mine,
