During the anniversary celebrations at Exporail in St-Constant Qubec we were given a special treat, to visit a rebuilt Via Rail locomotive #6409. We were given a special 20 minute tour with explanations on how the train operated, and all of it's new features. In this video the train operator explains how the "dead-man" switch works, and I get a chance at the controls.

  • Nice Video how did u get up

  • @stcatharinesrailfan I climbed up the small ladder steps on the side of the locomotive into the door. It certainly is high up too!

  • @MysticMTL ya it is how did you get up like did u ask the crew or they ask you

  • @stcatharinesrailfan They were taking small groups into the sleeper car for tours, and when we got out, the engineer was standing outside the locomotive, and asked if we wanted to check out the cab, and so he took 5 of us inside and gave us like a 20 minute explanation about how the train operated, and a bit of history behind the locomotive. I'm not sure if everyone got to do this, because the rest of the day I didn't see anyone else enter the cab. So I guess it was pretty lucky of us. :)
