Playa Girón by Silvio Rodríguez

This is a song dedicated to the fishermen of Playa Girón in Cuba. There exists some debate as to whether or not it's a political song, a debate in which I intend not to take part. As I say to my Spanish speaking viewers, "I hope I'm not offending anyone by singing this song because I'm not Cuban and Spanish is not my first language and although I have studied the history of the subject of this song, it's not a part of my culture. But I'm not singing it to make a political statement. I'm singing it to share a beautiful song that I love, and I hope you like it."

Very nice cover of Playa Giron. If you like music in spanish, I would like to suggest you to listen a spanish singer from the 70's, her showname was Cecilia (real name Evangelina Sobredo), she made only 3 official records because she died young, but she is regarded as one of the best songwriters and singers of that time in Spain, maybe you will like any of her songs.
