the reason why it is deserted is because everyone got killed, some thing was chasing you, didnt you notice something was shooting at you? lol btw i know its a glitch but i like to have an imagination with everything so that will be the theory ;)

It's not suppose to happen in the game. The programmers didn't intend to put it in there. So yea, I'd call it a glitch. =]
