At Dalhousie Mills Quebec, an old water tank sits north of the CP mainline. A restored water tank. Last used when steam was king in the 1950's and early 60's. Local individuals volunteered their time to restore this historic item.

Today, diesel is king and trains still pass by daily. Though not as frequent as they used to in the 1950's. Passenger service was given up long ago. Freight now rides the rails.

For one moment, it looked like steam returned to the Winchester Subdivision.

CP's Expressway, led by a pair of SD40-2's heads west with a train of trailers. Names like Canadian Tire, Bruce R Smith, Hudson Bay Company, SGT and SLH Transport are displayed on the sides of the trailers.

Look closely and see the second SD40-2 is having problems. Black, cloudy exhaust is emerging from the stacks. Like an old CPR Hudson racing for the setting sun with a passenger train, a pair of SD40-2's are bringing back a memory.....when steam was king.

  • I grow up on the same street that water tower is at the end of, it kinda loops back out more like bends. I use to bike around & by it. It was always leaking. I could here trains going by from inside my yellow house.
