What started out as a privately commissioned portrait of President Obama, turned out to be a wondrous journey for the artist, and those who have been fortunate enough to meet him, and watch as the portrait was created. The 8'x4" portrait was created at the Oakland Terrace ES Located in Silver Spring Maryland.
Jason began the portrait on December 12, 2008, and completed it on January 13, 2009. Each day the student body of almost 800 were able to watch as the new elected President, and two of Americas historical icons, emerged through the brushstrokes. This proved to be an educational experience for both the students and the artist. Jason regularly took time from painting, to answer their questions, and give them detailed information on how certain techniques and color blending were used to create the figures. He was, and still remains astonished and impressed with their curiosity, eagerness to learn, and their appreciation for the true meaning of what the portrait represents.
~A very special Thank You, to the Principal of Oakland Terrace ES, Cheryl Pulliam, for the space in which to paint, her staff for all of their assistance, and of course, all of the wonderful students at Oakland Terrace ES, for making this such an enjoyable and memorable experience.~

I love all of Jasons art videos but this one has that little bit extra, it gives us the chance to see Jason at work, in real time, and to hear his love for what he does, what a great opportunity for the kids at the school, to see this brilliant portrait come to life...
