This very rare film from 1972 was produced by the father of modern Emergency medicine James O. Page ( Technical Advisor & Writer for Emergency! ).
This public information special was shown back then in schools, paramedic training classes and puclic events.
The film features several clips from the show Emergency! and a narration by Jack Webb.

Please enjoy!

  • THE TRUCK CHANGED TWO YEARS OLDER ENROUTE

  • How neat! I never knew this video/film existed. The show being made so realistic is why I am such a big fan of the show! I wonder just how many community leaders across the nation viewed this at that point in time and began this type of operation in their area!

  • The only bad thing about the video is that skeptical municipal leaders would say, "Ah that's just a promo for a TV show" or "That's science fiction; it doesn't really happen." This is because the viewers don't realize that the producers made the show so realistic. The "Emergency!" series itself inspired many to ask for decent EMS in the country.

Yeah, including the full episode of that classic tv show entitled "Peace Pipe" with original NBC tv commercials too!

  • i never knew this existed. this definately goes in my favorites!

  • OMG! I heard about this film and its use as a promotional tool for fire departments to get a paramedic program going. They tried it in my city back in the 70's and litteral "dog and pony show" that was used as well. Our mayor's only question to the fire department which she asked about three times was "How much is the program going to cost the city" Needless to say the program was not adopted and the private sector was the provider of paramedic services.

  • @thefirefighter2011 I don't know. I was still just a baby at the time, having been born the previous year.

  • @wonderglory

did that "Emergency!" public information film from 1972 air right after that world premiere two hour tv pilot?
