That's a deceptive match to watch. Chipp, generally takes either next to no damage or loses.

There are some very good chip players, but that does not eliminate tier. Also Ky is not exactly top tier either. Beyond that you shouldn't look at tier to see which has an advantage you should look at match up and player experience.

Guilty gear is very balanced, but tier definitely exists, but it's a calculation of match ups not over all ability.

My understanding is that you see all sorts of "lower tier" characters at big tournaments and they sometimes win. Overall, this game seems to have more character choices for real competition than most other fighting games, which is really nice.

Last time I looked Chipp was on the bottom; I personally think he should be higher.

Yeah, I agree it's important for the player to be good, but there isn't any denying that certaing characters have natural advantage.

Yeah, he's considered to be top tier.

Well for some parts, I see it as the skill of the player and the way you play them. I've seen a Chipp master take down a Ky master with barely any damage taken, mostly cause he knew his character really well and he used the info in his combos.

That only half true. Yes a skilled D tier could take out an average S tier anyday, although some charaters are better than others.
