Weekly segment from BTQ7 Channel 7 Brisbane. Using archive footage looking at the history of Brisbane's Boggo Road Jail, located in the suburb Dutton Park.
The jail has the honour of being the site of the only officially recorded government report of a ghost sighting, anywhere in the world.
The story goes that guards saw a man climbing over the wall in an apparent escape attempt. Shots were fired at the escapee. But when the guards arrived at the scene on the outside of the wall, no one was found. The height of the fall from the wall, would have resulted in numerous fractures. Making it unlikely they could continue in a hurry. When a head count was done of the prisoners, none were found to be missing.
A big whoops - Jack doing tours for 20 years - don't think so (simple maths)

Bathurst jail in NSW is older and more creepy and still open..That has got to be haunted with the things that went on in there..Parramatta and Grafton too for my thinking.Places full of human misery.

I went to Dutton Park Primary School for a while in the 1950s, and Boggo Road Gaol was next to the playground - such a grey, forbidding hulk. The memory still sends a shiver up my spine...
