  • i havent flopped a set in about 6months

  • While not a poker god, I will attempt to explain why Townsend screwed up.

He put Patrik on a single pair that he was turning into a river bluff, i.e., 88-JJ, or QT.

Patrik's hand looks like a single pair when he checks twice OOP. But his equity with QJ against Patrik's range for raising this river isn't very good since that range is going to include sets, 78, AQ, and very rarely KK, AA, and QQ. Basically, he beats only a complete bluff.

Patrik, for his part, played the hand brilliantly.

  • Maybe after Patrik's call on the turn Brian could have realized his opponent doesn't have pocket 10's.

  • @Faven67 In hindsight I agree, it makes no sense to raise AQ or AA expecting worse to call (even though—and this was my results oriented thinking—we know Townsend would have).

As far as KK/QQ, like I said, it's rare that he could have them since he'd 3bet them pre flop most of the time. But according to Krantz's HU vids w/ Patrik, he 3bets way less than most . If he got to the flop with KK, you're right, he'd check raise. If he flopped top set, I'd expect him to play it the same. Your thoughts?

  • @GaeasBlessing Some of your reasoning is good, but h's never value raising AQ/AA, nor can he have KK/QQ, thus his range consists of 55,66,78 and hands that turned themselves into a bluff

  • @ajapale and then learn how to loose with them. god i love PLO

  • @91Holdem play omaha !

  • commentators are lolbad

  • why townsend isn't a live player in a nutshell. first thing he says as pot is over is "that's going to look bad on tv". that's the only reason he called, cos his ego coudln't handle the thought he may be getting bluffed (altho PA never ever takes this line on that board with a bluff).

oh, and had to lol at Tuckman saying "and i was wondering whether Townsend wanted a call..." when BT was squirming at the check-raise.

  • @91Holdem y ou should play at Sportsbookdotcom ..youll flop quads every 50 hands or so

  • my question is, what does Townsend think hes getting called with on that value bet on the end? was he throwing out a blocker bet there?
