Linguistics seminar for foreign MBA students in Taiwan
Antonio Graceffo meets with a group of foreign students, completing their MBA in an international program in Taiwan. Most students found that at the end of two years of studying in Taiwan they were far from fluent in Chinese. ALG helps the students to understand why they didnt just absorb the language, and how they might go on to be better language learners and teachers.

I know exactly why they did not absorb it. They probably spent as much time as they could socializing with other westerners probably speaking their own language instead of spending time living and working with Chinese people speaking Mandarin.
90%+ of westerners I knew in Taiwan always hung out with people from their home country, western bars and clubs, watching western TV and movies and had little actual interaction with Chinese people outside of the classroom and special settings
