Ben Stein: Fondly Remembering Terrors

OK, anyone want to take a stab at what Ben is trying to say? First, he reminisces about visiting Joe McCarthy's grave, and calls him a force of nature. (Did you have your picture taken by his grave, like Ann Coulter did?) Then, he thinks about Obama speaking at George Wallace University, and has a Yakov Smirnoff "What a country" moment. Somewhere in there, he's trying to make a point. Is he equating the unrepentant fearmonger with a racist governor who eventually saw the error of his ways? Did Ben get paid for this disjointed essay?

Wallace sought and achieved forgiveness from those he wronged, and died a better man for it. McCarthy never did, and died from complications of his alcoholism.

BTW..the facts that Stein paid his respects at, and Ann Coulter had her picture taken at, the grave of McCarthy makes me all the more proud that I have had the pleasure of pissing upon that very same Appleton Wisconsin venue.

Ben is a brown noser and not one drop of sincere thinking is in any of his commentaries. He's a speech writer...and was one for a disgraced President. The story line of this is also weak and stupid. He has no depth. No depth whatsoever. A stupid flash turns into a TV spot. The great wasteland and Stain is perfect for it.

That situation isn't ironic as stein proposes. It's straightforward the man repented for his actions the school is now anti-segregation. Why does ben try to twist good deeds into devious acts?

Do any of you know why McCarthy was trying to expose communists? It was because two communist scientists gave nuclear weapon designs to the Soviet Union. That ushered in about 45 years of Soviet oppression over Eastern Europe. Please, go ask the Poles or the Czechs what they think of McCarthy's efforts.

I don't want to seem ignorant. Stein is just not one of my favorites. This because all he does seems so contrived. After all his training was political speech writer.

Perhaps I can find the note I wrote when I first saw this. It explains my stance a little better. I'll post if I do. Thanks for your view. You're right...the Lord was only mentioned once. I got it confused with "lovable lug." It was the "L" sounds.

Obviously neither you, nor summerleftme get it. What Stein is saying, is that isn't it amazing how things have a way of ending up? Senator McCarthy was like a vicious awful storm. He's gone now, and is no longer a force to be reckoned with.

Senator Obama is running for president, standing in the college named for one of the great images of segregation in this nation's history.

What an amazing transition in both cases.

BTW, he only mentions the Lord once, not four times.

Such a phony. Barak would not be happy to be in this video being used by BS. I don't think he would melt and get all teary eyed at Joe Mc Carthy's grave. Lord, is this man an idiot or what? Does he think by invoking the name of the Almighty 4 times in one commentary that he will somehow buy credibility? Inappropriate comparisons are the backbone of all of his work.

McCarthy was a great american who's life was devoted to keeping our nation free of communism. Why was he smeared by the liberals? Because, he was so set on saving this nation, and the liberals want nothing less than for this nation to go up in flames. America, you need to wake up! We have the internet, we dont need to rely on the liberals for our news anymore, look McCarthy up and decide for yourselves!
