U.S. Rep. Rush Holt (NJ-12) raises a number of questions - about strategy, costs, our allies - that need answers before the United States commits further troops and resources to Afghanistan. "These are not loaded questions or simply rhetorical, they are real questions."
chefted001 hits the nail on the head. add pakistan as a free radical, no pun intended, extremist takeover prospect with nukes to the equation and the nightmare of our military/foreign policy is worse. meanwhile funding for health, the environment, education and financial reform that will help millions in dire need goes begging. we seem incapable of learning from the hard lessons of the past. pathetic!

he's my congressman too and i couldn't be more proud of his integrity, intelligence and eloquence. but, he is a voice in the wilderness in congress, when it comes to affecting the policy of continuous wars that drives our economy and foreign policy. it's the main thing we still make and, i agree with chefted001, that it appears that there is little chance of putting this all-consuming genie back in the bottle. it's consuming the funding for health care, education, climate change, etc., etc.

Great questions...unfortunately they have NOTHING to do with the issue! We are in this "war du jour" due to the military-industrial complex and it's need to maintain it's balance sheet and profit margins. This war and all others now, are all about profit and nothing else. Well maybe a little about oil too!
Most of the forces in these wars are actually mercenaries from a variety of countries who will do whatever for the highest bidder. It's all really disgraceful!
