A message to Neal Tiles concering Open Source statement. 1

Neal Tiles is the president of G4 TV.

"G4, and TechTV before it, has never been watched more than it is right now...since shifting away from an "all videogame" format...the network has realized huge ratings gains and web, VOD and podcasting traffic. We are in our 35 consecutive month of ratings growth (not sure if any other TV network can match that) and we have more VOD and podcasting views than any other ad supported cable network.
"most networks evolve/adapt in an effort to find the right business proposition that will allow them to succeed... FX started as an all women's channel, ESPN2 was conceived to be a network for "extreme sports," and TNN, Spike's former self, originally stood for "The Nashville Network" prior to their shift. Truth is/was... "videogame TV" or "videogame only" programming was not working...while all of you reading this certainly were passionate about the old G4...there simply was not enough of you watching to make "videogame only" a sustainable and profitable business.

"Same for TechTV...it too struggled mightily which, while before my time, may be the reason Vulcan Ventures (the previous owner of TTV) sold it off.

Neal Tiles wasn't in charge of the destruction of TechTV. The president was Charles Hirschorn who was responsible for TechTV's demise. Mr.Tiles actually is a pretty smart guy if you look at G4's open source discussion with him.
