If you can say "Great guy and good person to talk to," how is it you have TALKED to Peter if you're not a fan of his? Do you work sound somewhere? Work at the festivals?  Funny that you have so little in admiration for him as a singer, but you say, "ruins a song." Hmmmm. Just wondering!!!!!!!!!

If someone can objectively say that this particular performance from Peter Rowan was good without bringing Native American culture or Peter Rowan's character into the discussion as justification then be my guest. But IN MY OPINION this performance became exponentially more enjoyable when he stopped his guttural yodeling and allowed Tony Rice to do his thing.

Down low it is boomingly resonant; in the mostly favoured mid-range it is more nasally, yet that pinched sound bespeaks passion; then he slides effortlessly into a glorious, soaring falsetto, with or without yodelling embellishment... The most chillingly unforgettable music came in Rowan's Indian-inflected yodelling on the stunning Land of the Navajo...
