I saw them right after the reformation back in 2004. They were in tip-top form there, but I think Mustaine was re-energized with the fact that he didn't have to deal with politics in the band. They were spot-on amazing. The place was so intense that people's sweat had evaporated and stuck to the ceiling, then formed water droplets and was raining down on everyone. We walked out of there soaked. It was GROSS, but I'll never forget the sheer power they had that night.

@MaestroDraven It amuses me how Mustain is the week link in megadeth! People will hate me for saying that. I saw them at download a couple of years back, wasn't going to watch because I haven't been interested since Menza and friedman left but I was very pleasantly surprised how good they were. I think the fact they played thae majority of Rust in Peace might have had something to do with it...

That's a pretty lame excuse, my friend. No offense :) Metallica stripped down their sound for the black album for the exact same reason that Megadeth did it on Countdown To Extinction........to court mainstream success. I don't know what you mean by "off beat," either. The only time Ulrich is off beat is when he messes up live. The rest of the time it's standard meat n' potatoes drum chops. Nothing more, nothing less.
