I've been experimenting with a small scale solar power system. Right now, I am just powering a battery charger for D, C, AAA, AA and 9volt batteries. So far its been very easy to work with. I will do some more experimenting with lighting and other 12 volt appliances and post the results.

  • How is this system working for you? I'm very curious about it and how much you spent on everything. Thanks again for all your collective work and relaying info to us out here:) Very much appreciate it!!

  • @mikemorrison281 Mike, I think I need to get a different battery. This one is great for cold starting a car, but lacks the longevity of a deep cycle battery. Next step will be a deep cycle battery. Other than that it is pretty good for running lights, charging AA batteries, cell phones, etc. Hope that helps. Thanks.

  • Great vid. how are you plugging in the battery charger to the battery?

  • You can buy a solar battery charger. Mine charges D. C, AA, AAA. I got it on ebay for $26 with shipping. I bought a trickle charger for my car and a 12 volt cigarette lighter adapter which allows any appliance to be plugged in. It makes your car a power plant for small appliances. If you can't get gas, your car still has value.

  • What was the cost?

  • @YoungAndPrepping While standard flooded-cell lead-acid batteries do indeed offgas hydrogen while charging, gel cells -like Survive2Day is using in this video- do not.

  • I have the same panel. I know it puts out 1 amp in direct sunlight, how long does that take to charge that car battery??

  • I am a rookie this is my favorite channel right now

  • M question is, how much do the parts that get consumed in a solar power system cost? I mean, you do have to replace the battery every now and then right?

  • Thumbs up, nice set up you have, thank you for sharing!
