Couldnt you use the shells of the koopa troops he makes and hit kamek with the shells? just something i thought of while watching the fight. the room even seems designed so that a shell would bounce in really useful ways in there...

Actually, those "Fire Ropes" are called Fire Bars. Ask Overhazard if you want to check.
