Led Zeppelin were an English rock band formed in 1968 by Jimmy Page (guitar), Robert Plant (vocals), John Paul Jones (bass guitar, keyboards, mandolin) and John Bonham (drums). With their heavy, guitar-driven sound, Led Zeppelin are regarded as one of the first heavy metal bands, helping to pioneer the genre. However, the band's individualistic style drew from many sources and transcends any one genre. Their rock-infused interpretation of the blues and folk genres also incorporated rockabilly, reggae, soul, funk, classical, Celtic, Indian, Arabic, pop, Latin and country. The band did not release the popular songs from their albums as singles in the UK, as they preferred to develop the concept of "album-oriented rock". They charted ten singles in the US.

Close to 30 years after disbanding following Bonham's death in 1980, the band continues to be held in high regard for their artistic achievements, commercial success, and broad influence. The band has sold an estimated 200 million albums worldwide, including 111.5 million certified units in the United States and they have had all of their original studio albums reach the top 10 of the Billboard album chart in the U.S., with six reaching the number one spot. Led Zeppelin are ranked #1 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. Rolling Stone magazine has described Led Zeppelin as "the heaviest band of all time", "the biggest band of the '70s" and "unquestionably one of the most enduring bands in rock history".

Down by the seaside. See the boats go sailin'
Can the people hear, What the little fish are sayin'

Oh, oh, people turned away. Oh, people turned away

Down in the city streets, see all the folk go racin', racin'
No time left, to pass the time of day

People turned away. People turned away
So far away, so far away

See how they run, see how they run, see how they run, see how they run.

Do you still do the twist
Do you find you remember things that well
I wanna tell you... Some go twistin' every day
though sometimes it's awful hard to tell

Out in the country, hear the people singin'
Singin' 'bout the growin', knowin' where they're goin'

Oh, oh, oh, oh, people turned away
Yes, the people turned away

Sing loud for the sunshine, pray hard for the rain
And show your love for Lady Nature. And she will come back again The people turned away
people turned away

  • "Physical Graffiti" was my first Zep in 1975, and this was the best, of great song after great song. Whenever someone thought Zep was too hard, I would play this for them. It may not have made them converts, but they loved the song. ..."sing loud for the sunshine, pray hard for the rain..."

  • This is true music, music that doesn't talk about doing nasty shit to woman like music nowadays or "music" that sounds like Transformers.-_-

  • I love how the music and lyrics go together. The song makes you feel like you're at sea. Its magic when an artist can capture those moments. Zeppelin has so many songs like that.

  • @guitarttimman A simple twist in every day! But sometimes its awful hard to tell!!!!

  • @guitarttimman Keep the faith man. Much chaos in the world but here and there pockets of love, joy and bizarreness await!!!!!

  • @MrThreshold2009 haha. Cheers :)
