Students, faculty, staff and community partners from more than 80 national colleges and universities met at Stetson University in June 2009. These people involved in the Bonner Scholars Program are committed to and engaged in service and civic engagement to strengthen our communities, nation, and world. We focused on a myriad of issues around which we work—such as the arts, community economic development, education, health, homelessness, hunger, and youth development—in order to better understand what works in tackling these issues and how to achieve the most impact. Through issue-based tracks, we learned about program models, best practices, and how to connect our service to long-term systemic solutions through public policy research, advocacy, and action. Hosted by Stetson University in partnership with the Bonner Foundation, this Summer Leadership Institute gave participants a chance to more deeply examine the work we do and how to organize around issues we care about to achieve impact.
I love this video. Congratulations to all of you for a successful and well-planned SLI. I knew you guys could do it. =)
I sadly wish I could have gone. I to teach my lovely adorable minions at summer music school.
I can't wait to see you all this fall and FINALLY without conflict be able to attend those Friday sessions I've been so looking forward to.
Bonner love!
