it's a vet min. it's not hard to sign ben back now, we're still under the salary cap. back then, our other four starters earned over 10 mil (chauncey, rip, tay, sheed) already, and you resign ben for another 15mil, which will put them way over the cap (just with the starters), add the bench, we'll be in the luxury cap, detroit can't afford it.
signing darko was bad are u seriouse....do u know who else was in the draft to choose from and look at them now. what does darko do for his team? absolutley nothing..... getting rid of wallace by not matching the offer he wanted was bad because they had the money to do so. could of signed him a 5 or 3 year deal, and i would rather have billups and stucky come off the bench then traded him and fucked up a season and have signed other players. billups is better then all of them......
Did you know everyone in the draft expect Lebron @ 1, Darko @ 2? Probably not, you sound like Joe Dumars made a unexpected choice, and you bash him for drafting the person ESPN expect him to draft not some1 else.
The Giants sign Eli with 15 something million a year contract, or Al Davis drafts Heywood-Bey instead of Crabtree (ESPN predicts Crabree, like ESPN predicts Darko). Do you know if that's good or not? No, you don't know the future.
Don't sprain you ankle, jumping off the bandwagon.
lol it still makes it a bad choice none the less.... even though if people expected him to be good... its still bad.. a euro player that high generally arnt that great and need more time then other rookis to ajust. look at dirk and barngiani, but darko isn;t even close to being good like they are. it was a bust of a pick wich makes it the gms fault even though "espn" expected him to be good, thats what happens buddy you dont become top 5 and no one thinks ur good before....
Also, do you know what happens when you hold up to a player for too long, he get old, washed up, and he got no market value? Teams goto the rebuilding mode. Fortunately, our rebuilding season (wat u refer to as "fucked up season") was a first round exit, when most teams go to the lottery (even the Lakers did in 05 when they traded Shaq, they got the ninth pick in the draft).
Ask urself one more time, is Billups better than a more experienced Stuckey, Gordon, Charlie V, Chris Wilcox combined?
ye they still would of done better if they kept him, it ruined there pistons chemistry and bond especially when they traded billups. one of the biggest points of the pistons success was there on and off court team chemistry, they were the best in the league to that regard. and taking out 2 large pieces makes things alot different. id rather have billups any day with back up stuckey then and have wallace at center and rasheed back to pf with mcdyese and maxiell as back up forwards over the other3
That's what i'm saying, you hold on to them for too long, eventually their skills will decline, no teams will want to trade for them because of their contracts and limited skills.
I don't think ppl should trade PG in the middle of the season because they don't get use to the system. Maybe Joe D made a mistake on trading PG, but he manage to leave some space to correct his mistakes. There's a reason that he made trades, Detroit's gonna win either short term or long term, just gotta be patient.

it's good that he's back though
